The tug Spica, moored at the port of Trieste, at the disposal of the Ministry of Environment (Consorizio Castalia S.C.P.A.) sailed following the provisions of the italian Guard Coast and Castalia for an pollution control operation near Porto San Giorgio.
The Spica has moved on 25/10/13 at 10 am (in only 20 minutes from the call) and has returned to the base on 26/10/13 at 07:15 pm.
The oil slick was spotted by the men of the Guard Coast of Porto Nogaro during a night patrol.
The same, under the command of Luigi Spalluto, have immediately activated the appropriate actions.
It seems that the spill was caused by a human error. The appropriate investigations are in progress.
