Last September the Julian port recorded once again soaring volumes, handling 36,000 TEUs in transit freights (23,400 in terms of containers), versus 30,596 teus recorded in September 2012 (19,170 containers) that is +17.66% TEUs and +18.72% containers.
January-September 2013 data results: 348,640 handled TEUs (or 224,517 containers) whereas +13.86% and 12.54%. The last Port Committee approved the extension of concession to General Cargo Terminal Spa accepting the application submitted by the same company, moreover Port Authority called a tender to supply the port with an IT system connected to other North Adriatic ports and particularly with the Napa ones (North Adriatic Ports Association), namely Venice, Koper, Rijeka and Ravenna, although the latter port left the Association.
President Marina Monassi illustrated that "major target is to build a Port community IT system able to track inbound/outbound freights and means (ship, train or truck) within port areas".
